Team-compatible, motivated & innovative: Xantaro honoured as TOP employer

Service integrator among the top ranks in the “Hamburgs Beste Arbeitgeber 2012” contents

The winners of this year’s contest “Hamburgs Beste Arbeitgeber 2012” have been determined. And service integrator Xantaro managed a position among the top ranks. Finishing in 13th place among 78 participants and scoring four out of five stars the company was able to set itself apart from the majority of the contestants. The scientific study is based on a survey of 40,000 managers and employees at Hamburg companies. The honour increases the company’s appeal as an employer and provides prospects with indications for their job search.
“The competition for qualified employees is becoming more and more fierce. This also applies to our field”, explains Peter Schulte, Managing Director at Xantaro Deutschland GmbH. “That makes us even more excited to be ranged among the best employers in this independent study for our positive features and key words like team-compatible, dedicated, success-oriented, good working atmosphere, flexible and motivated.”
According to the contest Xantaro is highly quality-, solution- and customer oriented, and faces the competition as an innovative troubleshooter. Per the study the service integrator has a flat hierarchy. Cooperation within the company is marked by the unbureaucratic style and the high level of team-orientation along with a short decision making process.

Xantaro at the Northern Germany Graduates’ Employment Fair
University graduates can put the rule to the test on May 31, 2012. That’s when Xantaro will be at the Northern Germany Graduates’ Employment Fair to provide with students, graduates, and young professionals with information and answer questions about the company.

About the contest “Hamburgs Beste Arbeitgeber 2012”
Due to the increasing competition for suitable employees Prof. Werner Sarges of the Helmut-Schmidt University in Hamburg, the IMWF Institute for Management and Economic Research, Hamburg School of Business Administration, alster radio 106!8 and the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper started the contest “Hamburgs Beste Arbeitgeber 2012”. The scientific study is based on a survey of managers and employees. What’s special: the company is viewed and rated as a character. Employees and management rated described their company using various adjectives. This methodic approach allows complex structures within the company to be captured and represented. It also shows specific recommended actions for future human resources development. The contest also shows the set-up of companies today with respect to personnel work, and how company staff is equipped for future development. The results then determine the best employers of metropolitan Hamburg. Top ranking companies are awarded with the quality seal “Hamburgs Beste Arbeitgeber 2012” and three, four or five stars. Scientific feedback also provides contestants with valuable information to improve their personnel work.

Xantaro develops medium-range solution for native 40Gb Ethernet

Xantaro has successfully tested the transfer of data via 40Gb Ethernet for a distance up to 80...

The Xantaro team was able to revolutionise the data transfer between data processing centres. A solution they developed themselves allows a data connection with data processing centres via 40Gb Ethernet and allows these to be up to 80 kilometres away from each other. The native Ethernet is especially suitable for High Frequency Trading in the finance branch. Also, in the research segment as with carriers and service providers, the use of the medium-range solution is meaningful thanks to less expenses. Due to the use of few standard components, the acquisition and operation costs are between 30 and 50 percent lower than conventional costs for long-range connections.
Data transmission up until now, limited to 150 metres
40Gb Ethernet offers the opportunity for data processing centre operators to send data through only one interface with four times the speed of usual Ethernet transmissions. Up until now, large transmissions of data were only possible through bundling of 10Gb Ethernet interfaces, which resulted in high material and operative expenditures. Additionally, 40Gb Ethernet for the coupling of two data processing centres was usually not able to be realised because they only allowed maximum distances of 150 metres. Due to the different transmission times of individual bits, increasing distances distort the arrival time of the data and can also destroy it. The existing solutions up until now often consume an extremely high portion of the available project budget.
Medium-range data transmission up to 80 kilometres possible
Xantaro developed and tested an alternative solution for the problem, which makes native 40Gb Ethernet by means of passive, optical transmission technology possible. Thus, data is transmitted with the help of a wavelength division multiplexing process at a distance of up to 80 kilometres, which Xantaro successfully tested in its XT³Lab.
Green IT: The solution reduces the CO2 emission
The solution developed by Xantaro offers a distinct bandwidth advantage in comparison to conventional 10Gb Ethernet. Whilst up until now, 10Gb bundled Ethernet routes with several physical interfaces were used, the Xantaro solution reduces the operative expenditure in terms of monitoring and cable management as well. Compared to available native 40Gb Ethernet longe-range solutions, the acquisition and operation costs of the Xantaro solution are up to 50 percent less. Ongoing costs, as well as the CO2 emission when coupling data processing centres are also kept low due to the passive, optical carrier. Thus, one 1 RU unit can be used so that per location, only three RUs are needed per distribution cabinet. These are the the most energy efficient devices in the world.

Juniper Networks awards Xantaro third time in a row

At the EMEA Partner Conference in Barcelona (May 23rd) the network specialist Juniper Networks...

At the EMEA Partner Conference in Barcelona (May 23rd) the network specialist Juniper Networks again honored its partner Xantaro with one of the famous awards. This year the Service Integrator achieved the „Area Partner of the Year“-Award for Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH). With the repeated award honoring Juniper emphasizes the importance of Xantaro as partner and technology innovator. David Helfer, VP, Partners EMEA, Juniper Networks, said: “Xantaro is a highly successful partner for us because of its established experience around our technology, its skill in deploying solutions, and its ability to solve challenges with innovative thinking around the full breadth of our portfolio. We congratulate them.”

Ingo Kierse, Managing Director of the Xantaro Holding, comments on the award, the company and the future development.
What does the award honoring mean to you?
Ingo Kierse: We take the repeated award winning in recognition of our technical know-how. It is an approval on the part of Juniper of our performance and technology innovations. The award confirms that Xantaro is on the right pass with all the solutions and customer services. The prize also is an incitation to go ahead and further the international expansion. Besides, we want to use our innovation for new solutions and we aim high.
Can you give us any examples?
Ingo Kierse: In our Xantaro Technology, Testing and Training Lab, so-called XT³Lab, we test and demonstrate complete networks and multivendor scenarios. You won’t find anything like this anywhere else in Germany! With this laboratory we got an unique environment for the development of new services, for performance measurement and tests of interoperability as well as for network optimization. This is the basis for the successful implementation of new infrastructures and value-added services for carriers, service providers. As concrete example, we have realized the first implementation worldwide of a multicast VPN extranet. The project was tested intensively in our XT³Lab before the initial operation. Besides, the first implementation worldwide of extranet multicast VPN services based on JUNOS or the first implementation of Juniper’s Mediaflow solution in Europe for a cable operator.
What can we expect from Xantaro in the future?
Ingo Kierse: We at Xantaro are passionate and hungry for the conception and realization of innovative, technology- and vendor-independent solutions. We always look beyond the obvious. This attribute combined with our XT³Lab is the basis for even more innovative solutions and services. With the development of the XJSec training we have already extended our service portfolio in the past as an answer to the increasing demand of customers for professional trainings in the range of IT security. All in all, we want to increase with our customers and support them with State-of-the-Art network solutions to become more powerful and flexible and therewith economically successful. With the actual formation of further subsidiaries in Great Britain and the Netherlands we can provide our customers transnational with our excellent services “from one source”.

Xantaro sponsors IPv6 Congress in Frankfurt/Main

Following the allocation of the final IPv4 address blocks to the RIRs by IANA, the central...

Following the allocation of the final IPv4 address blocks to the RIRs by IANA, the central organisation for the assignment of IP addresses in February 2011, the subject of IPv6 has increased in public awareness. Because now it can be clearly reckoned with that no new IPv4 addresses will be available to net operators during the next twelve months. On the 12th and 13th of May, 2011, IP networkers, suppliers and decision-makers will meet at the third IPv6 congress in the CineStar Metropolis in Frankfurt to discuss solution approaches with regard to the introduction of IPv6.
Together with their technology partner A10 Networks, Xantaro will also be represented there, and they will give priority to possible migration scenarios from IPv4 to IPv6, together with all its challenges. Because today's Internet is based on IPv4 and is not compatible with IPv6. There is still no solution for the introduction of this new technology, and bridging technologies will be required. "Xantaro has been dealing with IPv6 for some time, and we have already gathered considerable experience in this area. In our XT³Lab we have carried out implementation and testing with IPv6. We're going to present this tried and tested knowledge at the Congress“, says Gerold Arheilger, Director of Pre-Sales and Business Development at Xantaro Deutschland GmbH.
The uncertainties are still great within this area because users lack sound knowledge and practical experience. Hence, many enterprises have not yet invested enough in the new technology – the demand has not been especially high up to now. Hence, the IPv6 Congress serves as a forum to exchange experience and know-how in this field. The seminars will, as well as focusing on the theoretical fundamentals of IPv6, concern themselves in particular with the progress reports of service providers and operators of company networks who can advise on the results as well as the pitfalls of the introduction of IPv6. In addition to this, the subject of IPv6 security will come under intense scrutiny. There will also be sufficient time included between seminars for individual exchanges and direct talks.

Xantaro implements as first partner of Juniper Networks Media Flow Solution in Europe

In our modern IT community, technical possibilities of the Internet grow rapidly which comes with...

In our modern IT community, technical possibilities of the Internet grow rapidly which comes with consequences: The demand for rich media applications is estimated to be at least double that of the demand for broadband within the next two years. In connection with this, consumer standards for comfort and performance of their data connections will also increase. Therefore, service providers are required to consistently invest in their networks in order that they can continue to keep up the services expected by the customer. Without appropriate technical solutions customers will quickly switch to more efficient service providers.
Xantaro faced the challenges with Juniper Networks Media Flow. The highly scaleable content delivery solution offers key benefits for wireline-, wireless- and cable network service providers: It is dynamic, quick and multifunctional – it ensures optimisation of existing data streams which reduces both overall data traffic as well as broadband demand. By connecting network, user and media applications, Media Flow provides the opportunity to become an integral part of the media value chain. Furthermore, Junipers solution can be easily integrated into existing and new networks. The benefits are clear: Optimisation of costs and existing networks, extraordinary customer service and provisioning of a long-term source of income.
Media Flow is a hieracrchical caching-solution for networks of any size and complexity. Based on a hardware-software-combination it is implemented into networks at various IP-locations, in fact, exactly where customers require rich media applications. Designed on VXA-hardware (Media Flow Controller) by Juniper Networks, Media Flow supports up to 20Gbit/s data traffic and up to 100,000 simultaneous connections. Here numerous storage options enable quick management of contents depending on popularity. To be exact, the Media Flow Controller is managed by the Media Flow Manager which quickly distributes user samples via the cache-hierarchy. The hardware is implemented in network-edge, Points-of-Presence (PoPs), at peering-points and at computer centre locations. Media Flow supports numerous media protocol types and digital music players such as content-types (On-Demand, Internet and Streaming), which has the unique capability of adjusting bitrates of the available stream in real time to network conditions. Known as Smooth Flow, this function will ensure a smooth, high-quality user experience. Xantaro has extensively tested Junipers Media Flow technology in their own XT3Lab test laboratory and has integrated it into their own demo centre. In addition, the Hamburg company has implemented the first Media Flow Controller with other national network service providers in Germany.
